Shoals to Hindostan Falls

The 13.5-mile section between Shoals and Hindostan Falls is a 6½ hour float. The river meanders between heavily vegetated banks lined with maples, willows, sycamores and cottonwood trees. Hunting and fishing are permitted at Martin State Forest with fishing at Boggs Creek Recreation Area. This section of the river passes along Beaver Bluffs, south of Shoals. Beaver Bluffs is a public area (owned by the Indiana Heritage Foundation) that is open to hiking.  If canoeing on through, the falls are quite dangerous and should be portaged between launching ramps.
